On this Section you will read about frequent queries by volunteers before coming here and during their placement. I hope that by making this one, would help you on your queries as well. Feel free to ask. It won't cost you anything. Just don't forget to leave your email so I could answer it privately. If you have questions feel free to email me at janerrolduazo@projects-abroad.org
Placement
1. What things do I need to pack?
a. Scrubs- you need scrubs to work in the hospital.
b. A box of Clean Gloves and Mask- Safety comes first. Sometimes stocks in the hospital runs out so we want you to be prepared.
c. Sanitizers- the same reason as above.
d. Ear plugs- here in the Philippines the roosters are our natural alarm clocks. If you don't want to wake up at around 4am then I deemed it necessary to have one.
e. Eye pads/mask- it gets bright early here so I think you really need one also.
2. Can I work on Night Shifts?
Most of the volunteers work Mondays-Fridays at 8am-3pm. On occasions, if a volunteer wished to work on night shifts we allow them to provided that there is a Medical Coordinator to guide them.
3. Do I need to bring books?
I personally deem this as unnecessary because WE (Medical Coordinators) will be there to explain what is happening and as they happen to you but if you wished to bring one (if it wont take much of your luggage) then it is in your discretion.
4. Do I need vaccine shots before coming to the Philippines?
Yes, but you have to consult a Doctor as to what particular shots you need. Some of the volunteers got TETANUS, TUBERCULOSIS, MEASLES, MUMPS, RUBELLA, TYPHOID, RABIES (pre-exposure) and HEPATITIS Shots before coming here. Again it varies from what country you are from. So you need a Doctors advise as to what you need.
Locale
